The Future of Real Estate

by Teresa Keenan

Technology has replaced the human side of many businesses.

I know some real estate agents fear this is inevitable with real estate, and as such are unwilling to change with the times, hoping they can hold on to their business for as long as they can. After all, who wants to promote technology that will ultimately make your chosen career obsolete?

However, this kind of thinking is not conducive to growing any line of business, or becoming successful in a particular industry.

Real estate IS changing. Real estate agents no longer hold the key to information, data or market activity. Any semi-savvy buyer can, at the click of a mouse, find information conducive to their decision making and bargaining power. Real estate agents are no longer the keepers of this.

This doesn’t scare David or me. In fact, it inspires us. We see the coming real estate industry as an open field, filled with potential for innovation, new ideas and creativity. We embrace this curve and are striving to be ahead of it in our market here in Fond du Lac and the surrounding areas.

The real estate agent of the future (and the future is now) is savvy about tools like internet marketing, photography, social media and promotion – just to name a few. The skills of negotiation, representation, communication and service, which have always been essential for successful real estate transactions will never go out of style – they will always be essential.

The real estate agent of the future understands that a mix of both of these skillsets is what will ensure transactions move to a successful close.

David and I are those real estate agents of the future, and as I said above, the future is NOW!
